![]() I spend a lot of time helping others get on the air and repairing their radios and saw requests for help setting up WSJT-X becoming more frequent. Having never touched an Amateur Radio Digital mode before I decided it was time. I see WSJT-X as a useful tool and an asset to Amateur Radio. Here I attempt to show the merits of the mode so many are calling the death of amateur radio as we know it. The real objective of this article is in PART-2 Why WSJT-X. The basic functions and numerous features of WSJT-X can be found in the User Guide at, or by asking a NARS member familiar with WSJT-X, especially Fred Kemmerer ( AB1OC) or Anita Kemmerer (AB1QB). Once you get beyond a few QSOs you will find some of the suggestions are nullified once more of the features are understood. A few of the operating suggestions are for those just starting out. It is just the highlights to get started without breaking your radio or making on the air (OTA) enemies. The following is not meant to be an FT-8 manual. ![]()
